RSW (engine block coating):

RSW (Rotation Single Wire), developed by FORD, is a wire-based, rotating procedure that combines electric arc spraying and plasma spraying. At the wire tip the feedstock is melted and then atomized. Fine droplets are accelerated and impinge on the substrate.

It is used to make cylinder running surfaces in aluminium-engine blocks but also to repair existing ones. The bearing surface previously had to be repaired in a complex and extensive procedure. Furthermore other axially symmetrical parts like inner surfaces of pipes can be coated. So far carried out diameters are between 65 and 120mm.
